Dear RUN,

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve been keeping you updated with the latest information on evictions and rent relief in California. Now, almost a year and a half in, many people are still confused about who can get help from the state and who cannot.

Here’s what you need to know: there’s lots and lots of federal and state money to help you pay rent and utilities if you’ve lost work or had trouble because of COVID. The applications are long, but it is worth it to apply if you can - all of your rent debt could disappear if you get approved.

Apply now, not later; statewide eviction protections expire at the end of September, so earlier is better to get your application processed.

If you have questions about state rent relief, a guest from the state department of Housing and Community Development will join us on Sept. 1 at our Community Care call to talk more about it. It’ll be a good chance to get information to pass along to family and friends.

In the meantime, you can apply at housingiskey.com, and spread the word if people you know are struggling.

Take good care,

Tori
