Dear RUN,

Whew! After a long hearing on Thursday and a big showing from Residents United Network members across the state, AB 71 passed through the Housing and Community Development Committee. We aimed for even more people testifying last week than at the previous hearing, and we beat our own record, with 28 callers from RUN - by far the most from one organization.

We’ll break down what happened and plan for next steps at our Community Care call on Wednesday at 1pm. What’s going on with that “no” vote from Orange County, and what can we do about it? How can San Diego, the East Bay, and the Inland Empire push hard before the big floor vote in June? Let’s dig in together on Wednesday.

And if you haven’t yet registered for the Housing California un-conference at the end of June, that’s coming up next month! It’s free for RUN members, and it’s all virtual. Register here. When you go to the link, it is a little confusing. Click “pay by credit card” and then click the plus sign where it says FULL CONFERENCE - Residents United Network (RUN) Leaders and you won’t have to pay by credit card.

One more note: we want everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible so we can see each other in person, and everyone 16 and older is eligible. Check out vaccinateall58.com to find out how we’re working to vaccinate all 58 counties in California.

Take good care,

Tori
