These solutions don’t just talk about racial justice; they center it so that we, together, can advance racial justice and create a California with stable, affordable homes for all. First, thank you for your service to our district.

I'm writing today to urge you to review and prioritize the policies released today in the California Roadmap HOME 2030 framework.

Despite recent housing victories and achievements such as Project Homekey, the current state of housing affordability and homelessness in California is unacceptable, and we need a call that is audible. One-time investments and band-aid solutions aren’t delivering the long-term solutions Californians need — independent assessments from the State Auditor and the Legislative Analyst’s Office recently confirmed this. It’s clear that with each moment of inaction, the racial equity gap widens and more Californians face the grim reality of losing their home or being forcibly relocated.

This package, a compact for Californians, will:

1. Invest in our values by prioritizing housing resources for those struggling the most, especially Black, Latinx, Indigenous and people of color
2. Promote fairness by restructuring tax and finance systems to undo racial inequities
3. Protect people by updating and enforcing the rules that safeguard Californians struggling to afford a home and facing discrimination
4. Reimagine growth by transforming how we use land to create affordable homes and access to opportunity
5. Create efficiency and accountability by designing seamless, coordinated housing and homelessness systems to close racial equity gaps and create homes for all.
